This makes us wonder if the 2024 Nissan Frontier Nismo is on the way as well. Such a move sounds like a very likely outcome, as Frontier is one of the most popular pickup trucks in the United States.
And while the Pro-X and Pro-4X are off-road variants, Nismo would represent a high-performance version of the Frontier pickup. Now, we don’t know that much about the Frontier Nismo pickup truck. Reportedly, this model will go on sale eventually next year, and here’s what we know at the moment.
After 16 years of the current second-generation Frontier, Nissan’s mid-sized truck gets a proper makeover. The 2024 Nissan Frontier is a lot the same, but looks and should feel a lot different.
The new Nissan mid-sized truck offering has the same frame and driveline as the current Frontier but has all-new everything else. The bold new looks inside and out are sure to attract a lot of buyers, and the tech and utility packed in should impress. Let’s dive into what we know about the new 2024 Frontier.
2024 Frontier Nismo Design
So far, we only saw renderings of the upcoming 2024 Nissan Frontier Nismo. Those images are showing a bolder pickup truck with an upscale exterior design We could say the Frontier Nismo looks like a futuristic version of the Rogue crossover SUV. Naturally, Frontier is a model that looks rugged, but sportier styling and more athletic stance are looking incredible on renderings. We mentioned the Pro-4X package, which looks sporty and very off-road capable.
Nismo is even sportier and it features better aerodynamics. Nissan will replace towing hooks and good approach angles with something new. The manufacturer is about to deliver a new suspension, improved handling, lower stance, and a complete redesign. Thanks to that, Frontier Nismo will look closer to the Ford F-150 Lightning and GMC Syclone.
What is Nismo?
The 2024 Nissan Frontier Nismo is not confirmed. However, it seems like Nissan plans to provide this treatment to its best-selling models, including the Frontier pickup truck. Nismo is the performance division, present since 1984.
It stands for “Nissan Motorsport” and Nismo competed in prestige races, including the 24 hours of Le Mans. Currently, Nissan offers its Nismo variant in models such as Sentra and Juke, and the Patrol SUV will also get one later in 2021.
New Turbocharged Engine With Over 400HP
Nismo is not the appearance package, as some people think. Yes, it does change the vehicle’s appearance, but this treatment also comes with higher performance. Interestingly, but the 2024 Nissan Frontier Nismo won’t be the first Frontier to wear this moniker. Nissan introduced the Nismo package for its second-gen Frontier. It was available with a potent V6 engine, limited-slip differential, 16-inch aluminum wheels, and much more.
What about 2024 Frontier Nismo? Currently, the regular Frontier pickup truck comes with the 3.8-liter V6 engine. This unit is capable of producing 310 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Reportedly, Nismo will arrive with some sort of turbocharged powertrain and it will develop over 400 horses. However, Nissan is yet to reveal more details.
2024 Nissan Frontier Basics
Let’s get the basics out the way. The 2024 Nissan Frontier has the same body on frame construction, and frame, as the second-generation Frontier. It also has the same 3.8 L V6 and 9-speed automatic transmission that was first introduced in the 2020 Frontier. The new truck can be purchased with a 2WD or shift-on-the-fly 4WD system, with 2WD/4HI/4LO modes. The Frontier’s V6 offers best-in-class 310 hp, as well as 281 lb.-ft of torque.
Under the truck, you get an independent front suspension and a solid axle with leaf springs at the back. The 2024 Frontier rolls on 30.6 or 31.6-inch tall tires on either 16 or 17-inch wheels. 2024 Frontier Off-Road Features
This new truck is ready for adventure. All 4WD Frontier come with Hill Descent Control and can be optioned with a 4-wheel limited-slip system. Urethane jounce bumpers help smooth the ride when the tires encounter big obstacles. An Intelligent Around View Monitor system with Moving Object Detection and Off-Road Mode make maneuvering on trail with confidence a breeze.
2024 Nissan Frontier loaded bedLoad & Tow
The 2024 Nissan Frontier can carry up to 1,600-pounds, which is in line with its competition. To aid in carrying a variety of loads the truck bed comes with four tie-down points and the optional Utili-track Channel System. Also in the bed is available spray-on bed liner and LED cargo lights. A new dampened tailgate assist system is now standard and makes the tailgate super easy to operate smoothly with little effort.
If you need to tow a trailer the Frontier has you covered on that particular front as well, with up to 6,720-pounds of towing capacity. It also now comes standard with Trailer Sway Control for the ultimate in towing confidence.
Nissan Frontier PRO-4X & PRO-X
The 2024 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X is obviously the ultimate off-road model in the new lineup. For 2024 we also get a new trim line, the PRO-X. The Frontier PRO-X has all the sporty aggressive good looks of the PRO-4X, just without 4WD and all the off-road features.
The Frontier PRO-4X and PRO-X both get Bilstein off-road shocks, a Dana rear axle, and 31.6-inch AT tires wrapped around 17-inch painted alloy wheels with Lava Red center caps, Lava Red grille accents, more aggressive fender flares, LED headlights, fog lights, and signature LED Daytime Running Lights. Inside these trucks you get the option of cloth or leather seats with contrast stitching, in Charcoal with Lava Red accents. LED lights are also carried to the inside of the truck.
The Frontier PRO-4X off-road-oriented model also gets a rear e-locker and full skid plates.
2024 Nissan Frontier Nismo Launch Date
Presently, we don’t know that much about new 2024 Nissan Frontier Nismo. From what we read, reliable reports are anticipating the first half of 2024 as the absolute most likely release date. The price is not available, but the Nismo version will surely cost over $40,000.
