2024 BMW X5. BMW’s highly popular, mid-sized X5 model delivers a unique mix of strong performance and well-controlled ride combined with the high-quality interior and loads of modern technologies. The model arrived all-new for the 2021 model year slightly lager, with more comfort and tech features but with a limited number of powertrain options. The next 2024 BMW X5 will expand the offer with two new powering options and the focus is on the high-performance and efficiency.
Following the introduction of the X3 M and X4 M models, the X5 and coupe-style X6 will also get the M treatment and should hit the market for the 2024 model year. The X5 M model comes with the V-8 engine under the hood and at least 600 hp at disposal. The new model year brings also the xDrive45e plug-in hybrid version with around 40 miles of all-electric range.
2024 BMW X5 Powertrains
The 2024 BMW X5 will repeat the current powertrain versions with the addition of the new, high-performance M version and plug-in hybrid setup.
A 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine is mixed with the 8-speed automatic transmission and this combo is good for 355 hp and torque of 330 lb-ft. The sDrive40i version is also available with the rear-wheel drive while all other versions rely on the all-wheel drive.
The XDrive50i version has a 4.4-liter turbo V-8 engine under the hood. This engine makes 456 hp and torque of 479 lb-ft. A variation of this engine powers the M50i version with 523 hp and torque of 553 lb-ft.
The M-branded X5 uses a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 good for 600 hp and torque of 553 lb-ft. The model comes also with chassis and suspension upgrades combined with the upgraded braking system. With the Competition package, this model produces 617 hp.
The X5 plug-in hybrid combines a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine with a 112-hp electric motor for the net output of 394 hp and torque of 443 lb-ft. The electrified X5 should manage around 40 miles on the pure electric propulsion.
2024 BMW X5 Design
The fast-selling BMW X5 switched to the new platform and gained an inch in length for the new-generation version while styling changes were again evolutionary.
The next 2024 BMW X5 will repeat the form of the current version while new variants will have unique outfits.
The high-performance X5 M comes with the M moniker which signals its unique abilities instantly. The model has an easy detectable wider track and sportier front bumper with larger air inlets. The rear comes with a large rear diffuser and standard is 20-inch wheels. The model gets also specific roof spoiler and black exterior detailing. With the Completion package installed, the rear wheels measure 21 inches.
The plug-in hybrid variant is nearly identical to the regular X5 with unique badging and wheels.
Interior, equipment
The recently all-new BMW comes with a high-quality and well-equipped cabin from the entry-level version. The new M version has a few unique touches as well as the plug-in hybrid variant.
The X5 M comes with the M-specific steering wheel with unique buttons. The M treatment appears also on the gear selector. The model gets also a combination of lather with hexagonal quilting and M logos mixed with carbon-fiber trim inserts. The M version uses also 12.3- inches instrument display with specific graphics and a central 12.3-inch touchscreen.
The xDrive45e plug-in model comes also very well equipped with a large center display, climate control, Apple Car Play and more.
Even the base X5 includes a sunroof, heated front seats, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, a 10-speaker sound system, etc. The part of standard equipment are active safety systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The M and plug-in hybrid versions are already available in Europe while they will reach dealers in the US in 2023. The base 2024 BMW X5 should again start around $ 59, 000. The M-branded X5 will cost $105, 100 while the Completion package will demand $114, 100.
